My mission

is to provide you with an extensive gallery of high quality, artistic photos that reflect genuine love; be it the love your family shares, the love in your eyes when you look at your newborn, or the love you feel toward your growing business.

Sounds simple enough, right?! Well I have found that anything that looks simple usually appears that way because someone has put the time and energy into perfecting it. I feel so lucky that I get to spend my time perfecting the art of capturing and documenting the beauty of life!

my story

Living most of my life in Southern California (with my middle and high school years in Utah) I grew up riding all of the boards! Surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and skateboarding. I still love to get on a board to this day. My husband and I are very competitive with each other when it comes to board sports -particularly snowboarding! I'm pretty sure we've passed down our love of boarding to our 3 kiddos, who are up for any boarding adventure with us! It's our favorite way to spend time together as a family.

Near the end of 2017 we had an unexpected move to Austin, TX from San Diego. The best part about this was it forced me to rebuild my photography business. At first I was devastated to have to do this, but then I realized it was a chance to build it better! Building a successful business twice made me realize how much I love the business side of photography. In 2023 I added a Business Coaching element to Lindsay Herkert Photo Co. I love sharing my knowledge in all things business and helping other photographers rise to their full potential!

I am so grateful that photography found a way into my life. It has taught me to see the world in a different way. Even when I'm not taking photos with my camera, I'm taking them in my mind; looking for and analyzing light, framing subjects, and seeing beauty in the ordinary moments.

When I'm not taking pictures or riding on a board, you'll find me running, baking cookies, drinking chai tea, or driving my kids to all the sports!

my style

After a few years of taking photography courses and practicing daily, I decided to challenge myself and apply for Click Pro. What started out as a fun little exercise turned into a year and a half of intensive learning and portfolio building. The process of deliberately playing with my camera with goals of experimenting with light and composition leveled up my photography in a way I couldn't have imagined. It helped me understand the rules to be confident enough to know when to break them. It also helped me to define my style and know what to look for when I'm shooting.

Hand Edited

Contrary to what is popular, I do not use presets. This is because most presets do not transfer equally to all types of light. I prefer to have complete control over each image, even if thed editing process takes more time.

Light

Photography means "painting with light". Light guides all of my photos. Whether it's backlight to highlight a loving look or blue light to create a fun silhouette, you'll notice creative use of light in your gallery.

Movement

Movement is a great way to loosen everyone up, but it also works well for creating energy and bringing your photos to life. Throughout your session you'll see me incorporate movement in a variety of ways.

Connection

Genuine emotion and strong connection help illustrate your story. Whether it's a belly laugh, connection with the camera, or even connection through
a gentle touch - you'll notice it often throughout your gallery.

For the in home session, she was amazing at capturing stunning shots and had creative ideas about how to get the best photos. She also was so good with my son in his individual photos taking care to make him comfortable and cozy. Finally I want to add that Lindsay’s turnaround for the completed photos was SO FAST!!
