Here’s the thing: families are the threads that connect us, weaving together generations of stories, traditions, and love. There’s something special about seeing grandparents holding the hands of the little ones they adore, cousins laughing in a way only they can, and siblings reconnecting in the midst of busy lives.
One day, the grandparents' strong, loving hands may no longer be there, the cousins may live miles apart, and family gatherings may become less frequent. But the embraces, the laughter, and the quiet moments shared together deserve to be remembered.
As an Austin extended family photographer, I love creating relaxed outdoor sessions that celebrate the connections between generations. These sessions aren't about stiff poses or perfect symmetry—they're about preserving the genuine interactions that make your family unique. Every laugh, every hug, every playful glance tells part of your family's story.
Because the seasons of life are always changing, photographs become one of the few ways to hold onto them. Let's create images that your children, grandchildren, and generations to come will cherish.

You value high-quality, professional photography that captures your family’s genuine connection and beautiful moments.

You love the idea of light-filled images edited in timeless rich color, that feel natural, warm, and full of emotion—never stiff or overly posed.

You want a session that’s playful and fun but still professional, with plenty of guidance so you feel confident every step of the way.

You’re ready to stop putting off extended family photos & finally have everyone captured with care, attention to detail, & a stress-free experience.
"We get to spend lots of time together, but have never taken the time to have someone else capture those moments. We are so happy we now have these beautiful images to cherish. Lindsay was helpful in choosing a location, different groupings of our family, and even encouraged us to have some fun/less posed that turned out to be some of our favorites! We can't wait to work with Lindsay again in the future. "
Fun, effortless, and memorable—that's what I want your extended family photography experience to feel like. With over a decade of experience photographing families, I've fine-tuned every step to make the process simple, organized, and enjoyable for everyone.
Once we've chosen your date, we'll find the perfect location. It's one of the biggest factors in creating beautiful extended family photos! My Austin Location Guide includes everything from open fields and oak-lined parks to limestone creeks and lakeside settings. If your family is gathering at a vacation rental, family home, or Lake Travis property, that's a wonderful option too. As long as we have beautiful outdoor light around sunset, we can create meaningful photographs almost anywhere.
Coordinating outfits for multiple families can feel like the hardest part of planning an extended family session—but it doesn't have to be. My style guide and access to Style & Select make coordina ting colors and outfits simple, so everyone looks cohesive without feeling overly matched. And if you'd like a second opinion, you're always welcome to text me outfit photos along the way.

Choosing the right location is one of the biggest factors in creating beautiful

→The Experience Matters Just as Much as the Photos: Great extended family photos are about more than gathering everyone in one place. They come from thoughtful planning, beautiful light, and an organized approach that keeps the session moving while allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally. After photographing more than 1,700 families over the past 14 years, I've learned how to guide large groups efficiently while making sure everyone—from grandparents to toddlers—feels comfortable and included.
→ Experience You Can Trust: When you hire an Austin extended family photographer, experience matters.
I'm honored to be a Click Pro Elite, Hello Pro, and NAPCP Master Family Photographer, recognitions earned by photographers who demonstrate consistent artistic and technical excellence. My work has also been featured in international publications and recognized with multiple industry awards. But what means the most to me is hearing families say they loved the experience
just as much as the photos. Read what past clients have shared → here.
→ A Photographer Who Understands Families: As a mom of three, I know just how quickly families grow and change. Children become adults, grandparents become great-grandparents, and finding a time when everyone can be together becomes more and more meaningful.
That's why I keep extended family sessions relaxed, organized, and enjoyable for everyone. I'll guide your family through the full group portrait, individual family combinations, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, cousins, and the candid moments in between—so you can spend less time worrying about logistics and more time enjoying being together.
Some of the most treasured photographs aren't taken for today—they're taken for the generations that come after us.
The children running through today's photos will one day share them with their own children. The grandparents gathered beside them won't always be there.
These photographs become part of your family's history, preserving the people and relationships that matter most.
Let's create something your family will cherish for generations.
This session lasts approximately 1 hour and is best for extended families (grandparents, cousins, etc). This session is for groups of 7-15 people (each additional person is $50). It is best to choose an outdoor location for large groups. Outdoor locations take place the hour before sunset for optimal light.
Every family has a different story to tell. Whether you're documenting your immediate family, welcoming a new baby, or making memories together on the lake, I offer photography experiences designed for every season of family life.
Extended family sessions are designed for groups of 7–15 people and include grandparents, adult siblings, spouses, children, and cousins. If your group is larger than 15, additional family members are welcome for $50 per person. If you're planning a particularly large gathering, reach out and I'll help determine the best session length and location for your group.
We'll start with the full family portrait and then work through a list of smaller combinations, including each individual family, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, cousins, and any other groupings that are important to you. Before your session, I'll help you create a simple shot list so nothing is missed.
I'll help you choose the location that best fits your family and the experience you're hoping to create. Many families choose one of my favorite outdoor locations in Austin, while others prefer the convenience of photographing at a vacation rental or family home—especially if everyone is already gathered there. As long as we have beautiful outdoor light around sunset, almost any location can become the perfect backdrop.
Coordinating multiple families doesn't have to be stressful. After booking, you'll receive my Style Guide along with access to Style & Select, an online styling tool that makes coordinating colors and outfits easy. I'm also happy to review outfit photos before your session.
That's completely normal! I keep sessions relaxed and move at a pace that works for your family. Some of the best photographs happen during genuine interactions rather than perfectly posed moments.
Most extended family sessions last about an hour, giving us plenty of time for the full group, individual family portraits, and candid moments without feeling rushed.
If your family is visiting from out of town or gathering for a special occasion, I recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred date. Spring and fall weekends tend to book the fastest.
If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll simply reschedule your session for the next available date that works for your family.
