They’re about creating an experience that feels relaxed, enjoyable, and true to your family. When everyone feels comfortable, the genuine moments naturally follow.

Whether this is your very first family photo session or an annual tradition, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know—from choosing the perfect location and deciding what to wear to preparing your children, understanding what to expect during your session, and making the most of your photographs long after they're delivered.

Let's get started.

Quick Answers

When is the best time of year for family photos in Austin?

Spring and fall are the most popular, but every season has something beautiful to offer. From wildflowers and

green landscapes in the spring to warm golden light in the fall, we'll choose a location and timing that fits the

look you're hoping to achieve.

When should we book our session?

I recommend booking at least 2–3 months in advance for spring and fall sessions, especially if you're hoping

for a weekend. Summer and winter typically offer more flexibility.

What time of day are sessions held?

Most outdoor sessions take place during the hour before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and flattering.

Morning sessions are also available and are especially beautiful for families with young children.

What should we wear?

Soft, coordinated colors photograph beautifully. I encourage families to start with Mom's outfit first, then

build everyone else's wardrobe around it. You'll also receive a detailed styling guide to make planning simple.

What if my kids don't cooperate?

Don't worry—it's one of the most common concerns I hear, and almost never the reality. My sessions are relaxed,

playful, and built around connection rather than perfect poses. Some of my favorite images

come from the moments in between.

How long does a family session last?

Most full family sessions last about an hour, giving everyone time to relax while capturing a variety of moments.

If you're looking for something shorter, I also offer weekday Small Sessions.

Where should we take our family photos?

That depends on the look you love. Whether you're drawn to open fields, limestone creeks, modern architecture, or

beautiful parks, Austin offers incredible variety. Later in this guide, I'll share my favorite locations and

what makes each one unique.

When will we receive our photos?

Your gallery is typically delivered within two weeks. From there, you'll be able to download your images,

order professional prints, and create artwork for your home.

Ready to book?

Once you're ready, simply reach out through my contact form. I'll help yo u choose the perfect session,

answer any remaining questions, and guide you through every step of the process.

The Heart Behind Family Photography

Family photographs have a way of preserving the moments we never realize will become the ones we treasure most. The laughter between siblings, the way your child reaches for your hand, the look your partner gives you when no one else is watching—these ordinary moments quietly become the memories that shape a family's story.

Over the past thirteen years photographing Austin families, I've learned that the most meaningful images aren't the perfectly posed ones. They're the photographs that make you smile years later because they bring you right back to how that season of life felt. My hope is that this guide helps you feel confident and prepared for your session, while creating photographs your family will cherish for generations.

1
Why Family Photos Matter

Life has a way of moving faster than we expect. One day you're rocking a baby to sleep, and before you know it they're asking for the car keys.

Family photography gives us the chance to pause. It captures the relationships, personalities, and little moments that change so quickly, creating a visual record of the people we love most.

Years from now, these photographs won't just remind you what everyone looked like—they'll remind you how this season of life felt.

2
Creating Memories That Last

As a photographer, I've photographed thousands of moments for other families. As a mom, I've experienced something even more meaningful.

Over the years, I've taken countless photographs of my own children. Every so often we'll pull out an old album or start a slideshow on the TV.

Without fail, everyone stops what they're doing.

We laugh, tell stories, point out forgotten moments, and relive memories we hadn't thought about in years.

It's one of my favorite traditions.

That's the power of photography. Pictures don't just preserve memories—they bring them back to life. They remind us of the people we've been, the adventures we've shared, and the love that has always been there.

They fill a home with warmth long after the moment itself has passed.

Why Print Your Photos

In today's digital world, it's easy for beautiful photographs to stay tucked away on a phone or hard drive. But the images that become part of your family's story are usually the ones you see every day.

A framed photograph in the hallway. An album on the coffee table. A gallery wall your children pass every morning.

Printed photographs become part of your home and your family's legacy. They're daily reminders of the people and moments that matter most.

If you're looking for inspiration on displaying your photographs, choosing albums, or creating artwork for your home, I'd love for you to explore my complete Printing & Artwork Guide.

The Booking Process

One of the biggest reasons families tell me they loved their experience wasn't just the photographs—it was how easy the entire process felt. Planning family photos can feel overwhelming at first, but I've spent years refining every step so you never have to wonder what comes next. From helping you choose the perfect location to offering outfit guidance and sending reminders before your session, my goal is to make the planning feel just as enjoyable as the session itself.

What Happens After You Inquire

1

Reach Out

Tell me about your family, the type of session you're looking for, and a few dates that work for you. We'll choose the best option together.

2

Reserve Your Date

You'll receive your proposal, contract, questionnaire, and invoice online. Once everything is complete, your date is officially reserved.

3

Start Planning

This is where the fun begins.

You'll receive my Location Guide, Style Guide, and access to Style & Select to help plan outfits. I'll also help answer any questions along the way.

4

Enjoy Your Session

A week before your session I'll send detailed meeting instructions, and on the day of your session you'll receive a text with a Google Maps pin and any last-minute updates.

5

Relive the Memories

A few weeks later your gallery arrives. From there you can download your images, order professional prints, albums, and wall art, and begin enjoying your photographs for years to come.

Before any of that can happen, though, you'll want to choose the perfect time for your session.

When to Book Your Session

One of the questions I hear most often is, "When should we schedule our family photos?"

While every family has different schedules and priorities, there are a few things I always consider

when helping clients choose the perfect date. The time of year, the quality of the light, and how your family

naturally functions all play an important role in creating beautiful, relaxed photographs.

Why Golden Hour Creates Beautiful Images

If you've looked through my portfolio, you've probably noticed something many of my favorite images

have in common—the light.

There's a reason photographers get so excited about golden hour. During the hour before sunset

(or shortly after sunrise), the sun sits lower in the sky, creating soft, warm light that gently wraps around your family. Instead of harsh shadows and bright overhead sun, everything feels calmer, softer, and more natural.

It's the kind of light that makes skin tones glow, creates beautiful depth in the landscape, and

adds a warmth that simply can't be recreated later in editing. It allows children to play, families to cuddle together, and moments to unfold naturally without anyone squinting into the sun.

Even after photographing families for more than a decade, I still find myself smiling when I arrive at a session and the light is exactly what I had hoped for. Watching the sun filter through oak trees, dance across a field, or reflect off the water never gets old. It's one of my favorite parts of every session.

While golden hour is my first choice whenever possible, sunrise sessions can be just as beautiful. Morning light has a fresh, peaceful quality all its own, with cooler temperatures, quieter parks, and children who are often at their happiest early in the day. For families with young children or busy evening schedules, a sunrise session can be a wonderful alternative.

The Best Time of Year for Family Photos

One of the things I love most about photographing families in Austin is that every season offers something unique.

Spring brings fresh greenery, wildflowers, and comfortable temperatures.

Summer offers long evenings, beautiful sunsets, and fun locations like Bull Creek or Lake Austin

where families can cool off and embrace the season.

Fall remains one of the most popular times for family photos as the weather cools and many

families begin thinking about holiday cards and gifts.

Winter often surprises people. Austin winters are generally mild, parks are less crowded, and the soft winter light creates beautiful, timeless portraits.

Rather than asking which season is best, I encourage families to think about which season

feels most like them. Every time of year has its own personality, and together we'll choose the

location and timing that best fits your family's vision.

1

How Far in Advance Should You Book?

The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you'll have when choosing your preferred date and season.

For spring and fall sessions, I typically recommend booking one to two months in advance, as these

seasons tend to fill the fastest. Summer and winter usually offer a bit more flexibility,

though weekend evenings are always in high demand.

If you're hoping to use your photographs for holiday cards, gifts, or announcements, it's also

helpful to work backward from when you'll need your images. Booking early allows plenty

of time for your session, gallery delivery, and ordering prints without feeling rushed.

If you're not sure when to book, don't worry—that's what I'm here for. I'm always

happy to recommend the best season, location, and timing based on your family's

schedule and the look you're hoping to achieve.

Choosing the Perfect Location

One of my favorite parts of planning your session is helping you choose the perfect setting for your family's story.

Every family is different. Some spend every weekend hiking Austin trails, while others love slow mornings at home baking pancakes or summers on the lake. Some dream of wide-open fields at sunset, while others imagine their children splashing through a creek without a care in the world.

The location you choose becomes part of your story, so I always encourage families to think beyond what simply looks pretty. Instead, ask yourself, "What setting feels most like us?"

Together, we'll choose a location that not only photographs beautifully but also reflects this season of your family's life.

Outdoor Sessions

Outdoor sessions are what most people picture when they think of family photography, and for good reason. Austin offers an incredible variety of parks, open fields, tree-lined trails,

scenic overlooks, and lakeside views that create beautiful backdrops throughout the year.

Outdoor sessions give children room to explore, move, and simply be themselves. Whether we're chasing golden light through a field or walking beneath towering oak trees,

these sessions tend to feel relaxed, natural, and full of genuine connection.

Studio Sessions

Sometimes simplicity is exactly what allows your family to shine.

Studio sessions offer beautiful natural light, clean backgrounds, and a timeless aesthetic that keeps the focus exactly where it belongs—on your family. They're a wonderful choice during the hottest

summer months, unpredictable weather, or for parents who love a bright, modern look.

I photograph studio sessions at The Lumen Room (downtown Austin or Leander locations), where each space is thoughtfully designed to complement the soft, natural style you see throughout my portfolio.

In-Home Lifestyle Sessions

There is something incredibly meaningful about documenting your family in the place where life actually happens.

Whether it's reading books together on the couch, making pancakes in the kitchen, or rocking your newest baby in the nursery you spent months preparing, in-home sessions preserve the routines

that often become our favorite memories.

These sessions are intimate, relaxed, and deeply personal, creating photographs that simply couldn't exist anywhere else.

Creek Sessions

If your family loves being outdoors, creek sessions are hard to beat.

Kids can splash through the water, skip rocks, search for tiny fish, and forget they're even having their pictures taken. Some of my favorite images happen

when everyone simply embraces the adventure.

One of my favorite ways to end a summer session is by letting everyone kick off their shoes and head into the creek. It's often the moment when children completely

forget about the camera and simply enjoy being together. The result is authentic joy, a sense of wonder, and the kind of playful magic that naturally unfolds when

children are given the freedom to explore.

On the Lake Sessions

One of the things that makes Austin so special is how naturally life revolves around the lake.

These sessions take place on your family's boat, allowing us to document an evening exactly as you would normally spend it—swimming, tubing, laughing together,

and watching the sun set over the water.

Rather than feeling like a traditional portrait session, these photographs tell the story of one of your family's favorite traditions. They're especially popular for families with tweens and

teenagers, who often feel more relaxed when they're doing something they genuinely enjoy instead of focusing on the camera. The result is a session that feels effortless, authentic, and uniquely your family.

Seasonal Sessions

Every season offers something unique, and some of my favorite sessions celebrate the beauty of a particular time of year.

In the spring, Texas bluebonnets create one of the most iconic backdrops in the state, offering a short but beautiful window for portraits surrounded by wildflowers.

During the holidays, my Vintage Volkswagen Holiday Bus sessions have become a tradition for many families. Children love exploring the bus, parents enjoy creating holiday cards

they'll treasure for years, and watching families return season after season to document another chapter of their story is one of my favorite parts of the year.

These seasonal offerings change throughout the year, but they all share one thing in common—they celebrate the memories that make each season of family life so special.

Best Family Photo Locations in Austin

With hundreds of sessions photographed throughout Austin, I've spent years discovering locations that photograph beautifully in every season.

From wide-open fields and scenic overlooks to quiet parks, creeks, and downtown spaces, every location has its own personality.

Choosing the right one depends on the season, the ages of your children, the time of day, and the overall feel you're hoping to create.

Styling Your Family Session

The Foundation of Great Family Photos

The right wardrobe doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, some of the most timeless family photographs

come from outfits that feel natural, comfortable, and true to who you are.

My biggest piece of advice is to choose clothing that makes you feel confident. If you're constantly adjusting a dress,

pulling at a shirt, or wearing something that doesn't quite feel like you, chances are you'll notice it during

your session—and it may show in your photographs.

After booking, you'll receive my complete style guide along with complimentary access to Style & Select, an online tool

that makes it easy to coordinate outfits for the entire family. And if you're deciding between a few options,

I'm always happy to take a look and offer my thoughts. Sometimes a second opinion is all you need.

Untitled design (8)

Coordinating Colors & Choosing Your Location

One of the most overlooked parts of styling is thinking about your wardrobe and your location together.

The colors you wear help shape the overall feeling of your photographs just as much as the setting itself.

Soft neutrals create an airy, timeless look in open fields, while warm earth tones beautifully complement wooded trails and creek sessions. Richer colors often feel right at home in downtown locations,

while soft pastels can be especially beautiful during bluebonnet season.

Rather than dressing everyone in identical outfits, I always encourage families to coordinate instead

of match. Choosing colors that work together creates depth and interest while allowing each person's personality to shine.

When your wardrobe complements the landscape instead of competing with it, the result feels

effortless, cohesive, and timeless.

Untitled design (5)

Outfit Tips for Moms

I always recommend starting with Mom's outfit first and building everyone else's wardrobe around it.

Flowy dresses and clothing with subtle texture tend to photograph beautifully because they add

movement and softness to your images. Most importantly, choose something you feel comfortable and confident wearing.

As a general rule, clothing that fits well—rather than oversized or bulky pieces—photographs more

naturally and helps create flattering proportions. I also recommend avoiding pure white and pure black whenever possible. Because they aren't technically colors, they often photograph a bit flatter than softer neutrals, earthy tones, or muted colors.

Untitled design (6)

Outfit Tips for Dads

Once Mom's outfit is chosen, it's usually much easier to coordinate everyone else.

Simple, well-fitting clothing almost always photographs best. Henleys, sweaters, button-down shirts, and lightweight layers add texture without feeling overly formal. I recommend avoiding large logos, graphics, or clothing with distracting text, which can pull attention away from the connection between your family. If the weather is cool, a fitted jacket or sweater is usually a better choice than a puffy vest, which can add unnecessary bulk in photographs.

Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable in. When you feel relaxed and confident, it naturally comes through in your photographs.

Untitled design (5)Untitled design (7)

Dressing Babies & Children

Children don't need perfect outfits—they need comfortable ones.

Choose clothing that allows them to move, play, and simply be themselves. Soft fabrics, simple patterns, and layers photograph beautifully while keeping the focus on your child's expressions instead of their clothing.

If your little one will be wearing a dress, don't forget a diaper cover. It's a small detail that keeps the focus on your sweet baby instead of what might peek out while they're crawling, being held, or playing.

If you have young children, don't stress over every little detail. A rolled sleeve, a missing shoe, or a little dirt on tiny feet after exploring a creek often becomes part of the story you'll love remembering years from now.

The goal isn't perfection. It's preserving this season of your family's life exactly as it feels today.

Untitled design (8)

Styling Tweens + Tweens

As children get older, giving them a little input goes a long way. Encourage your teen to choose an outfit they feel confident in while staying within your family's overall color palette. Simple, timeless pieces photograph beautifully and help everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera.

A few tips:

  • Choose clothing that reflects their personality while coordinating with the rest of the family.
  • Stick with solids or subtle patterns rather than large logos or graphics.
  • Well-fitting clothes almost always photograph better than oversized or overly trendy styles.
  • Comfortable shoes matter—especially if we'll be walking to different locations.

Looking for more styling inspiration? My complete What to Wear Guide goes into even more detail, including how to coordinate outfits for different seasons, what colors photograph beautifully at each of my

favorite Austin locations, outfit examples, and answers to the styling questions I hear most often.

If you're just getting started, it's a great next step.

Preparing for Your Session

One of the questions I'm asked most often is, "How can I help my family have a great session?"

The truth is, there's no secret formula. The families who enjoy their sessions the most aren't necessarily the ones with perfectly behaved children, they're the ones who prepare thoughtfully,

trust the process, and simply enjoy being together.

A little preparation goes a long way, and once your session begins, you can leave the rest to me.

1
Preparing Young Children

Family photo sessions take place during the most beautiful light of the day—which also happens to be close to dinner time for many little ones!

A little planning beforehand can make all the difference.

Feed them before you come.
If you're planning to head to dinner after your session, be sure your children have a filling snack beforehand.

Hungry kiddos rarely enjoy having their photos taken, so think protein or something that will keep them full until we're finished.

Bring a simple backup snack.
A small snack tucked into your bag can be a lifesaver. Goldfish, crackers, or gummies work well.

Try to avoid chocolate, sticky treats, brightly colored snacks, or anything that could stain little faces, hands, or clothing. (Save the red popsicles for after!)

Watch out for car naps.
If your child tends to fall asleep on the drive, try offering a snack or chatting with them to help keep them awake.

If they do drift off, simply allow a few extra minutes for them to wake up and transition before we begin. Every child is different, and you

know your little one's routine better than anyone else.

Talk about the session ahead of time.
A simple conversation about where you're going and why can make a big difference. Let them know we're going to explore, play, cuddle, and take some beautiful family photos together.

Building a little excitement beforehand helps everyone feel more comfortable.

A little motivation never hurts.
If your kids respond well to rewards, I'm all for it! Ice cream after the session, a trip to the playground, or letting them choose dinner afterward can be great incentives.

Save the surprise for the end, and everyone has something fun to look forward to.

Most importantly, trust yourself. I can offer plenty of tips, but you know your family best. Prepare your children in whatever way helps them feel

most comfortable and confident—we'll make a great team.

2
Helping Dad Enjoy the Experience

Let's be honest...family photos aren't always at the top of every dad's weekend wish list. The good news? Most dads tell me afterward that the session was much easier—and a lot more fun—than they expected.

A few requests for the dads:

  • Leave your sunglasses in the car.
  • Leave your phone in the car, too. One hour without notifications is worth it.
  • Trust me to guide you—you don't have to know what to do.

One of the best things dads can do is simply engage with their family. Be playful. Toss your kids in the air, make silly faces, whisper jokes, or chase them through the field.

Dads often get the biggest, most genuine laughs, and those authentic interactions almost always become favorite photographs.

Your only job is to enjoy your family. I'll take care of the posing.

3 png
What to Bring

A few things can make your session even smoother:

  • Water for everyone
  • A small, clean snack for little ones
  • Baby wipes (they're useful far beyond the toddler years!)
  • A lint roller for last-minute touch-ups
  • A hairbrush or comb for windblown hair
  • Any sentimental item you'd love included, such as a favorite blanket or stuffed animal
  • Comfortable shoes if we'll be walking to our location (you can always change once we arrive)

You don't need to pack much—just the basics so everyone feels comfortable and confident.

4
Tips for a Relaxed, Stress-Free Session

The families who enjoy their sessions the most aren't the ones with perfectly behaved children or perfectly coordinated outfits. They're the ones who think about what matters most,

prepare their family in a way that feels true to them, and then let go of trying to control every moment.

Children don't have to smile at the camera every second.

They don't have to sit perfectly still.

They don't have to perform.

Some of the most meaningful photographs happen in the in-between moments—the laughter after a silly joke, the spontaneous hug,

the way your child reaches for your hand, or the look they give you when they think no one is watching.

The best photographs aren't created by perfect behavior—they're created by genuine connection.

Come prepared, trust the process, and simply enjoy being together.

I'll guide the rest.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session isn't about perfect smiles or getting everyone to look at the camera at the exact same time. It's about capturing your family as you truly are—the personalities, relationships, and little moments that make your family uniquely yours.

From our very first conversation, my goal is to make the experience feel organized, relaxed, and enjoyable. I'll guide you

through every decision leading up to your session, so by the time we meet, all you have to do is show up and enjoy being together.

Untitled design (8)

My Approach to Photographing Families

Every family has its own rhythm, and I believe your photographs should reflect that.

Some children are outgoing, silly, and constantly on the move. Others are quiet observers who take a little longer to warm up. Neither is better than the other—they're simply different, and I love photographing both.

The same goes for the relationships within your family. Maybe Dad is always making the kids laugh. Maybe your teenager still leans into your shoulder without realizing it. Maybe your youngest insists on holding your hand wherever you go.

Those are the moments I'm looking for.

Rather than trying to create moments that don't feel authentic, I pay attention to the way your family naturally connects and use beautiful light to highlight those interactions. My goal isn't to create a version of your family that looks perfect—it's to preserve the version you'll want to remember.

Untitled design (5)

How I Guide You Naturally

One of the biggest things clients tell me after their session is, "That was so much easier than I expected."

That's exactly how I want it to feel.

Long before your session begins, I've already done the planning. I know my locations well, I've studied how

the light changes throughout the evening, and I know exactly where to place your family to make the

most of it. As we move through the session, I'll guide you from one beautiful spot to the next, looking for gorgeous light, interesting textures, rich colors, and plenty of variety. You'll never have to wonder where to stand or what to do with your hands—that's my job.

At every location, I'll use different prompts, questions, and playful activities to create genuine interaction

rather than forced smiles. While the experience feels relaxed and natural, there's a great deal of intention behind every photograph.

I'm constantly watching the light, adjusting angles, noticing little details, and weaving in the classic family portraits you'll always want alongside the candid moments that often become your favorites.

Untitled design (5)Untitled design (7)

Creating Genuine Connection

Children are at the heart of every family session, so my first priority is helping them feel comfortable.

With younger children, we usually begin by becoming friends. Sometimes that means letting them "help" me warm up my camera by pressing a few buttons. Giving them a little ownership right from the start helps build trust and turns the session into something they get to be part of rather than something happening to them.

From there, I let your child show me who they are.

If they're energetic and playful, we'll run, explore, laugh, and play games.

If they're thoughtful and curious, we might stop to look for ants, collect leaves, or simply slow down and let them take everything in.

Every child is different, and that's exactly what makes them wonderful.

Throughout the session, we'll play simple games, answer silly questions, whisper secrets, share hugs, race across a field, or see who can make Mom laugh the hardest. Those little moments of play almost

always lead to the genuine expressions parents treasure most.

The result is a gallery filled with photographs that feel joyful, connected, and unmistakably you.

Untitled design (6)

Frequently Asked Questions During the Session

What if my child doesn't cooperate?

Honestly? It happens more often than you think—and it's completely okay. I never expect children to sit still or smile on command. I simply meet them where they are and adjust my approach. Some of my favorite photographs have come from moments that parents worried were "going wrong."

Do we have to know how to pose?

Not at all. I'll guide you every step of the way. You'll never be left wondering where to stand, what to do with your hands, or whether you're doing it "right."

Will we get both posed and candid photos?

Absolutely. We'll capture the timeless family portraits you'll want to frame, while also leaving plenty of room for natural laughter, movement, and connection. My favorite galleries always include a beautiful mix of both.

After Your Session

While your session may only last an hour or so, the memories we create are meant to be enjoyed for years to come.

Once we've said goodbye, I'll get to work carefully hand-editing every image in your gallery, making sure each photograph

reflects the style and quality you've come to expect.

My goal is to deliver a gallery you'll be excited to revisit again and again—and one that's ready to be enjoyed not

just on your screen, but throughout your home.

2
Gallery Delivery

One of the things I pride myself on is delivering galleries in a timely manner without sacrificing quality. Every image is individually hand-edited with careful attention to color, light, and the little details that make a photograph truly shine.

Within approximately two weeks, you'll receive a beautiful online gallery through Pic-Time where you can:

  • View your fully edited images
  • Download both color and black & white versions
  • Watch a slideshow of your session
  • Share your gallery with family and friends
  • Order professional-quality prints directly from your gallery

Every full session also includes a $50 print credit, which you can use toward any prints or products available through your gallery.

3 png
Choosing Your Favorite Images

One of the hardest parts of the process is often deciding which photographs you love most—and honestly, that's a wonderful problem to have.

When viewing your gallery, I recommend slowing down and looking for the images that make you feel something. The biggest smiles aren't always the photographs you'll treasure most. Sometimes it's the quiet glance, the tiny hand wrapped around yours, or the laugh you barely remember happening that becomes your favorite.

Choose the photographs that tell your family's story, not just the ones where everyone is

looking at the camera.

1
Printing Your Photos

In a world where digital images live on phones and hard drives, there's something incredibly meaningful about holding your favorite memories in your hands or seeing them displayed throughout your home.

Professional printing brings your photographs to life with richer color, better longevity, and materials

designed to last for generations. Because every image in your gallery is carefully edited with printing

in mind, you can feel confident knowing they'll look just as beautiful on your walls as they do on your screen.

Whether you're looking for framed wall art, fine art prints, holiday gifts, or keepsakes for grandparents, you'll have access to a curated collection of professional products directly through your gallery.

If you're not sure where to begin, don't worry—I've created plenty of resources to help you choose the best

way to display your photographs and preserve them for years to come.

4
Albums & Wall Art

There's something special about walking past your family's photographs every day.

An heirloom album becomes the book your children pull off the shelf years from now. A framed portrait

in your hallway quietly tells your family's story every time someone walks by. These aren't just decorations—they become part of your home, your family's story, and the memories your children will grow up with.

Whether you're dreaming of a statement wall in your living room, a gallery along your staircase, or a

beautifully crafted album to pass down one day, I'm here to help you find the option that fits both

your home and your family.

To make the process simple, I've created a Family Photo Printing Resources page filled with everything you need to confidently preserve and display your photographs. You'll find information about the professional products I offer, inspiration for displaying family photos throughout your home, guidance on choosing the

right wall art and albums, tips for organizing and backing up your digital images, and articles explaining

why professional printing makes such a difference.

My hope is that your photographs don't spend their lives tucked away on a hard drive, but become

a meaningful part of your home for years to come.

Final Thoughts

Thank you for trusting me with your family's memories.

I know choosing a photographer is about more than beautiful images—it's about finding someone who will make the experience enjoyable, help your family feel comfortable, and create photographs that still make you smile years from now.

It would be an honor to tell your family's story.

I can't wait to meet you.

I booked a family photoshoot with Lindsay, and our experience was fabulous through the whole process! Lindsay was super responsive and got us booked right away. She sent a ton of resources - location guide, outfit/styling guide, and day-of tips. She was amazing with my toddler, and had lots of great ideas for poses and shots, as someone who needs more guidance when posing for photos. I couldn’t be happier with the photos themselves, they are so beautiful! I haven’t ordered yet through the photo shop but there are a lot of great options for frames and photo keepsakes, and it’s easy to use and customize. I would absolutely trust Lindsay to capture our family photos in the future.

Updated review in 2026: I am so happy my family was able to connect with Lindsay again. Lindsay previously captured my maternity pictures and our family just a few weeks after our little guy joined us. I really wanted her to meet our little guy now that he is 1.5 and full of personality and what better time than bluebonnet season! We were just as blown away at Lindsay's ability to capture our little guy's charm, mischievousness, and wonder all in one picture! These bluebonnet pictures are exactly what I envisioned. Lindsay made our little guy feel so comfortable and that shines through in the images. Words can't express our gratitude for capturing our little family at this moment in time. I hope that Lindsay will be able to continue to photograph him as he grows! So much gratitude to you and your art!2024 Review:Words cannot express how happy we are with the pictures Lindsay took of our family! She captured our family and little one so perfectly. We are swooning at the pictures of our little guy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for capturing both the pregnancy and arrival of baby boy - you have documented some of the most important moments in our lives! On top of that, Lindsay is simply a pleasure to work with - creative, positive and fun! We hope we get the opportunity to work with her again in the future. Thank you again!

We used Lindsay for our newborn photos and I'm so glad that we did. She did an amazing job with our 1 week old. I swear she's the baby whisperer, she was able to get him to pose and relax for the whole shoot. She captured his personality perfectly, and it was such a treat to be able to do lifestyle photos and posed photos in our own home. It really made things easier. Lindsay was so fun to work with and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a family photographer.UPDATE to say that I booked Lindsay again for newborn photos with our second and the photos and experience were just as good the second time around she really captured our family perfectly.

I had an absolutely incredible experience working with Lindsay! From the moment we met, she was so kind and welcoming, making the entire shoot feel relaxed and enjoyable. Her professionalism shined through as she guided us through different poses and settings making sure every detail was perfect. What really stood out to me was her artistic eye. She captured stunning photos from unique angles, playing with lighting and backgrounds and ways that truly brought the pictures to life. The results were beyond my expectations. Each photograph had the perfect lighting, tone and composition. I am beyond thrilled with how they turned out! If you’re looking for a talented and professional photographer look no further. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer and can’t recommend her enough.2025 Update: Lindsay was just as amazing as last year. I am going to have to buy a bigger house so I can have enough wall space for all these amazing photos. I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to work with Lindsay. These photos are beyond professional, elegant and stunning. I'll definitely be a returning customer.

Working with Lindsay for our daughter's senior pictures was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. She communicated throughout to make sure the location was just what we wanted, and her tips on clothing were super helpful. During the shoot she made our daughter feel at ease and helped with posing and was just kind and thoughtful. Best of all, the pictures turned out better than we could imagine!

We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Lindsay as our family photographer. From the moment we met her, it was clear she had an incredible eye—not just for capturing beautiful moments, but for choosing the perfect settings to bring them to life. Every location she picked felt intentional and inspired. Her ability to match the mood of our family with the backdrop was truly impressive. The quality of Lindsay’s work speaks for itself. Each photo is crisp, vibrant, and full of emotion. She has a gift for catching those fleeting, candid moments that feel the most real—laughs, hugs, glances—and turning them into timeless keepsakes. Her editing style is natural and elegant, enhancing the beauty of the scene without ever feeling overdone.Lindsay made the entire process feel effortless and fun. We have been using Lindsay Herkert for our family holiday photos since 2021, and we absolutely LOVE her! Lindsay is fabulous with kids, even our small baby, and puts an incredible amount of time and care into every session. She always has creative and thoughtful ideas for posing our family of five, making the whole experience fun and relaxed. What sets Lindsay apart is her attention to detail and excellent communication from start to finish. Beyond just taking photos, she offers a wide range of services and products that make the entire process seamless. We were initially drawn to her because of her beautiful editing style, which my husband, a professional photographer himself, is quite particular about, and Lindsay has exceeded our expectations every time.If you're looking for a photographer who is not only talented but also truly invested in capturing your family’s special moments, Lindsay is the one! Highly recommend!

Do yourself a favor and hire Lindsay Herkert immediately. Lindsay kindly “rescued” my daughter’s Senior Photo Shoot. After our original photographer became ill, and the second ghosted us (after collecting a deposit), we were very stressed about finding a talented photographer who was available. Our prayers were answered in Lindsay! She was quick to respond, a great communicator, flexible about the location/time, and gave extra helpful tips for this type of photo shoot. (If you have a teen daughter, you know how important this photoshoot is)! During the shoot Lindsay was professional, creative, and enthusiastic. Her comments helped my daughter feel beautiful/confident and relaxed throughout the shoot. She even let me jump into a couple of pics- SO nice!!!! Lindsay had the photos back to us in plenty of time to make prints for the party and they are GORGEOUS!!!!!! Exactly what we were hoping for (in color AND black & white). I truly can’t write enough positive words to express my gratitude to Lindsay. I’ll say it again, stop looking for a photographer and book Lindsay Herkert.

The whole experience was great! Lindsay has lots of info on her website and is very responsive to questions. She accommodated every request my high school senior had for specific poses, while sequencing her outfits/locations in the park for maximum impact. Pics were available within a week - We love all the images!

Our family has worked with Lindsay for our photo sessions and we’ve really enjoyed our experience. Lindsay is very personable and pays attention to your preferences when planning the shoot. She’s so warm natured and my kids absolutely loved chatting with her. I really think this helped with keeping them engaged and they felt so comfortable. The quality of photography you receive with Lindsay is also amazing. Our family has had photographs with other photographers in the past and although they were great I’ve felt from the beginning in working with Lindsay that she’s very skilled, now’s exactly how to direct the shoot and the end product you receive is fantastic. Lindsay is also up front in disclosing pricing and options which I so appreciate. If our family wasn’t moving out of state we’d be lifelong clients!

We have used Lindsay for our "fresh 48," newborn, six month and one year photos for both our children. Her photos are priceless, timeless keepsakes that capture the light, joy, and energy of these special moments. From prep to "day of" to delivery, Lindsay is above and beyond. In advance of your photo shoot, she is very detail-oriented and provides location coordination, outfit/props support and recommendations, discusses poses, tone, and goals of the shoot so she is perfectly aligned. Her warm personality and incredible "touch" with kids makes the day of stress-free and dare I say even fun. As someone who hates getting my picture taken and never knows how to pose, I just let Lindsay tell me what to do and work her magic. She's exceptional with our children and manages to capture their SMILES and personality with ease ... though I'm still not sure how she gets as many smiles as she does. She edits and turns around photos very quickly (days to a week rather than some photographers who drag on and on) and believe me when I say I am always BLOWN AWAY by the photos. There are always so many and far more than I ever expect given that she gets ya in and gets it done. Couldn't recommend more highly if you want natural, beautiful, bright and joyful photos.

We recently moved from out of state and was looking for a new family photographer. Lindsay was amazing! Pictures turned out so beautiful. We had a large extended family photos at Ford Ranch at the end of December. There were some tantrums by a kid (and one by an adult) and Lindsay was amazing to try to accommodate everyone. She gave us recommendations for colors to wear. We used her style and select program to find matching outfits which was great!. We chose dark blue. We had a family member decide they wanted to wear an all black outfit. Please don’t wear all black on a beautiful sunny day, it does not look good;). She will give you a location guide recommendation. We originally chose Mayfield Park for a fee, but unfortunately, there was some event there. So we chose Ford Ranch. We will definitely use her services again!

What a fun shoot and perfect photos!! Lindsay was sweet, easy going, and so flexible. We were late and I was nervous that would cut down our time, but she never let us feel bad about it. She kept going for as long as she needed to to make sure we walk away with enough photos and BEAUTIFUL memories. The photos are so incredible and there's so many we get to keep. We wanted to do a photoshoot with our 6 month old before her teeth came in and she helped us capture her cute gummy smile and photos as a family. She was patient through the poopie diaper changes and all. She even laid down on the muddy ground to get us one of our most favorite shots of our little one. We are so so grateful. We also reached out VERY last minute and she made everything work. Highly recommend her for your next photoshoot!

We had such an AMAZING experience with Lindsay as she captured our little family and newborn beautifully! The pictures are stunning and will be cherished forever.Lindsay is extremely professional and very prompt with communicating. She was happy to answer all of our questions and wanted to make sure she understood our vision for the pictures. Her turn around time on the images was fast and efficient. She was also very flexible when it came to having to reschedule our appointment for our little one that came 6 weeks early. It was a huge plus getting all the images rather then just having to select a few of our favorites. Having her come to our home with all the props and equipment needed made things so much easier for 2 very tired parents. She was patient, gentle and kind with our newborn that didn’t always want to cooperate. . It’s very clear that she loves her job and strives for perfection. By the end of the photo session, you feel as though you have a lifelong friend. Would highly recommended her and hope to have her capture more of our little girls milestones in the future.

I hired Lindsay to do Fresh 48 and in homeNewborn photos for my first baby and she was amazing! My son ended up spending the first five days of his life in the NICU and Lindsay was amazing at being flexible and finding a time to come do the photos in the NICU once things settled down a little bit and my son was healthy enough to have photos taken just before he was discharged. Not only that but she created beautiful images in the world’s most poorly lit little area of the NICU where my son was stationed. Perhaps even more importantly she came in to take the photos with a great positive energy and immediately made us feel comfortable even though we were in a stressful situation and had nurses hovering around us. For the in home session, she was amazing at capturing stunning shots and had creative ideas about how to get the best photos. She also was so good with my son in his individual photos taking care to make him comfortable and cozy. Finally I want to add that Lindsay’s turnaround for the completed photos was SO FAST!! All in all, it was a great experience and we will treasure our photos forever. Thank you Lindsay!
