The Booking Process

 

I’ve thought through every step of the booking and planning process to make this experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. From scouting the perfect location to helping you pull together a wardrobe that feels true to you (and photographs beautifully), I’ll guide you every step of the way. You’ll always know exactly what’s next—no guessing, no confusion, just a seamless journey to your perfect portrait session. Once we pick the date, here’s what you can expect from me to make your session amazing.

You'll receive an extensive Location Guide with photos to assist you in choosing the perfect location

for your photoshoot. In addition I highlight my favorite locations for the time of year we are shooting.

A short form with a policy agreement will be delivered. Everything is online and easy to fill out.

An invoice for the deposit is delivered with the remainder due the day of the photoshoot.

Payment is done easily via credit card online. Once I receive the completed form as well as the

deposit, you are officially booked!

After you book, you will receive an email with a link to Style & Select - a great resource to help you plan out what to wear along as well as my Style Guide which provides great tips for getting ready for your shoot.

Lastly, you'll receive an email confirmation about a week before your session with exact meetup

instructions and the location address. In addition, I'll text you the morning of your shoot with a

Google maps link.

If anyone knows how much work, planning, and dare I say bribing (wink, wink)…goes into your photoshoots, it's me!

I've been on the other side of the camera many times, and know that styling a family for a photoshoot can be a daunting task!

 

Fear not my friend! I've got you covered! First, I provide a Style/Session Guide that is full of great tips - from when to get a haircut to what color layering shirt is best under a sweater, this Style Guide provides all the answers.

 

Next, (and my personal fav) you get access to Style & Select!

A relatively new addition to the Lindsay Herkert Photo Co experience, Style & Select is an

interactive & shoppable styling resource that shows you hundreds of photo worthy tops, bottoms, dresses, and

accessories pulled in from well known retailers to give clients, like you, an easier way to figure out what to wear.

Here’s how: Every full photo session booked with Lindsay Herkert Photo Co includes

a $50 print credit to professional, high-quality print labs. The labs and products are all connected

through Pic-Time, where I deliver your digital photos and slideshow, making the process super seamless.

The best part? Printed photos are delivered right to your doorstep, and I personally review

and approve every order that comes through.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your shooting style for family photos?

I am a lifestyle photographer, and my style is geared towards capturing real moments! This means getting you interacting rather

than posing, and having a fun time together because that is where the magic happens!

I will 100% guide you through the process!

Are sessions indoors or outdoors?

All session locations are chosen by collaboration with you to bring your unique vision to life. I am happy to do on location or an

in-home session. There is also a great shared natural light photography studio in town that is available for rent.

What time do you book your sessions?

Golden hour is the most beautiful light of the day and the time when all my outdoor sessions are scheduled (about 1 hour prior to sunset). I do not book any outdoor sessions mid-day, but I can book sunrise sessions if that works better with your schedule.

In-home sessions are usually scheduled in the morning before nap-time for little ones.

Studio sessions are best between 9am - 11am.

Can I cancel/reschedule my session?

After booking, retainers are non-refundable, as I am holding the date for you and turning away other clients.

If you need to reschedule, you must notify me at least 72 hours in advance.

Rescheduling during fall & spring (my busy seasons) is extremely challenging and may result in a weekday or different season date.

What happens if it rains or is windy?

If your session date gets rained out or has winds in excess of 20mph, we can reschedule for another date.

Depending on location and wind velocity, I may suggest a location change in order to

conduct your session on the scheduled date if needed.

When should I book?

Booking well in advance for a family session is recommended! My wait times for spring and fall season can range

from 3-5 months in advance. Session dates are booked on a first come, first serve basis and only held once a retainer

has been received. Please don't wait if you are inquiring for a fall or spring date. These go really fast!

Newborn & branding sessions are always welcome any time of year as they can be booked during weekdays too!

We have used Lindsay for our "fresh 48," newborn, six month and one year photos for both our children. Her photos are priceless, timeless keepsakes that capture the light, joy, and energy of these special moments. From prep to "day of" to delivery, Lindsay is above and beyond. In advance of your photo shoot, she is very detail-oriented and provides location coordination, outfit/props support and recommendations, discusses poses, tone, and goals of the shoot so she is perfectly aligned. Her warm personality and incredible "touch" with kids makes the day of stress-free and dare I say even fun. As someone who hates getting my picture taken and never knows how to pose, I just let Lindsay tell me what to do and work her magic. She's exceptional with our children and manages to capture their SMILES and personality with ease ... though I'm still not sure how she gets as many smiles as she does. She edits and turns around photos very quickly (days to a week rather than some photographers who drag on and on) and believe me when I say I am always BLOWN AWAY by the photos. There are always so many and far more than I ever expect given that she gets ya in and gets it done. Couldn't recommend more highly if you want natural, beautiful, bright and joyful photos.

We recently moved from out of state and was looking for a new family photographer. Lindsay was amazing! Pictures turned out so beautiful. We had a large extended family photos at Ford Ranch at the end of December. There were some tantrums by a kid (and one by an adult) and Lindsay was amazing to try to accommodate everyone. She gave us recommendations for colors to wear. We used her style and select program to find matching outfits which was great!. We chose dark blue. We had a family member decide they wanted to wear an all black outfit. Please don’t wear all black on a beautiful sunny day, it does not look good;). She will give you a location guide recommendation. We originally chose Mayfield Park for a fee, but unfortunately, there was some event there. So we chose Ford Ranch. What a fun shoot and perfect photos!! Lindsay was sweet, easy going, and so flexible. We were late and I was nervous that would cut down our time, but she never let us feel bad about it.
